Thanks so much for what you've done. My great great grandfather Frank Placek was a private in the 22nd K Co. He was discharged at age 18 in Savanah, GA on July 25, 1865. His discharge papers were signed by 1st Lt Oliver P. Hull. I have his discharge papers. I believe he lived in Jasper County.

I believe that I have the top of the grave marker for Daniel Strahle. I was visiting my son in Iowa City about 4 years ago and saw the top of a grave stone in a pile of trash at the home he was renting. It was to be thrown away by the landlord. It seemed so disrespectful, that I has my son put it in my car and I took it home. I have not thought much about it until recently as my son has entered the Navy, and things have taken on a new light. Is there someone that I can contact about this. Some relatives or something? I would like to return it.
