My third great-grandfather's brother, John Thomas Whittington, was with the 22nd and was killed at the Battle of Port Gibson. I'm interested in finding his gravesite and wonder if anyone would know where causulties from that battle were buried.

Was surfing and trying to find more information on my great great great grandfather and if his death was due to the war. His name was Johannes Adam Lentz and died 1865 in Lyons/Clinton Iowa.

Thanks for a very interesting site. My 3rd great-grandfather was Pleasant P. Cardwell and served with Company H of the 22nd Iowa. He was serverley wounded at the siege of Vicksburg and was discharged on December 26, 1865 in Davenport, Iowa. He is buried in Scandia, Kansas. I am Camp Commander for Charles H. Huntley Camp 114 of the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War in Mason City, Iowa.

Thank you for putting this information up on the Web! I'm a descendant of Marion Blaylock, who served in Company H.
